Once located just outside of Ardmore, Alabama, land records suggest that the Joel Eddins House was erected as early as 1808, which make it the oldest currently existing dwelling of any kind in the state of Alabama. The floor plan of the Eddins House is unique to the area with its hall and chamber style. Adding to the various types of architecture we display in the Historic Park, this plan traces back through Tidewater Virginia to the folk housing of the late Medieval England.

Our Historic Park Volunteers have enjoyed this past year of monthly informative and fun presentations. We will be taking a summer break. A new year of presentations and training opportunities will begin in September. As we plan for this new year, we would like your input. If you have a topic that you would like to learn about or that you would like to present, please contact
