The Barn @ Burritt on the Mountain The Barn @ Burritt on the Mountain A 19th Century barn was a multi-purpose structure. Used for storing animal feed, lumber, and implements, it was also the scene for activities such as threshing, tool and implement repair, and animal husbandry. This barn was originally part of a farm near Minor Hill, Tennessee, and was constructed about 1890. Like many houses in the Tennessee Valley, this barn possessed a central breezeway, or "dogtrot," but this one was wide enough to accommodate a farm wagon. Enough hay and fodder (corn stalks) to feed the animals throughout the winter was kept in the loft until needed.

City Lights and Stars featuring Mary Gauthier

Through the City Lights and Stars Concert series, Burritt on the Mountain continues to bring world class musicians to the Huntsville community at affordable prices. On Friday, May 24th at 7:30 pm Burritt will feature Mary Gauthier. This concert is sponsored by Jerry Damson Honda Acura and the series is sponsored by Redstone Federal Credit Union.

In conversation and in public, Mary Gauthier comes off as a practical, no-nonsense woman. Stoic, even. Which wouldn’t seem unusual, except for the fact that her songs carry so much emotional punch, they can leave you staggering.  Louisiana native-turned-Nashville resident Gauthier (it’s French; pronounced Go-SHAY), whose songs have been described as Americana, has earned praise from Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, and have been recorded by Jimmy Buffett, Blake Shelton, Boy George and many others. When she tells you that she is not bragging, just explaining, in that practical way of hers. It’s the same way she discusses experiences that led to some of the extraordinary songs she performs on the album. Renowned songs, such as “I Drink,” “Drag Queens in Limousines” and “Karla Faye”. Admission is charged and food, soft drinks, beer and wine are available for purchase. For more information or tickets
