Leather Working: “Clutch/Purse”

Description: Join us to make this beautiful clutch purse. Item includes lined compartment (approx. 6″ x 11″) with inner magnetic closure and outer catch for added security. Item can be made using premium leather or quality faux leather. Strap is metal chain (included). This beginning project teaches some of the basic skills fundamental to many leather projects. Project item is similar to picture and exclusive of any customization or embroidery.
Instructor: Kevin Yarbrough is a software engineer with a local aerospace company with a passion for traditional trades: tooling and process. Kevin has been a volunteer at Burritt Museum demonstrating blacksmithing and leather working and has taught many workshops with the Burritt Folk School. His goals are to make useful, aesthetically pleasing items while learning and sharing in a collaborative environment.
Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided. When checking students can choose premium leather or quality faux leather materials.
Time: Saturday, November 16 (9:00a-4:00p)
Supply Fee: $42.00 (for premium leather) or $30.00 (for quality faux leather)
Important Information: Registering for a workshop indicates that the student is 19 years of age or older and understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets or other promotional materials. Registration also indicates that the student releases Burritt on the Mountain and the City of Huntsville, all their directors, employees, volunteers, and any persons associated with Burritt on the Mountain, from any liability for any bodily injury and/or property damage suffered by the attendee as a result of actives during the educational program.
Cancelation Policy: Students that cancel 14 days prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a full refund. Students that cancel 7 days prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a 50% refund. If student cancels 6 days or less prior to the date of the class no refund will be issued.
