Description: Come learn basic basket making techniques that can be applied to other baskets you wish to make! Students will make a small muffin basket with leather handles and a smocked diamond design. Participants will have a choice of color reed to accent their baskets and will leave with a completed basket that is perfect for a gift or to keep for yourself!
Instructor: Sara Boothman Glines is a traditional artist carrying forward beautiful and culturally significant skills that have been handed down into our contemporary lives and communities. She enjoys creating, crafting, and bringing to life these traditions through carving, basket making, sewing, felting, and whatever nature has to offer. For eight generations, her family roots have been in the White Mountains of Northern New Hampshire. She and her husband enjoy spending winters in Northern Alabama for the past nine years.
Supplies and Attire: Students should wear comfortable attire that they don’t mind getting dirty or damp. Please also wear closed-toe shoes. All supplies and materials will be provided.
Time: Tuesday, November 9th (12:00pm-4:00pm)
Supply Fee: $15.00
Important Information: Registering for a workshop indicates that the student is 19 years of age or older and understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets or other promotional materials. Registration also indicates that the student releases Burritt on the Mountain and the City of Huntsville, all their directors, employees, volunteers, and any persons associated with Burritt on the Mountain, from any liability for any bodily injury and/or property damage suffered by the attendee as a result of actives during the educational program.
Cancellation Policy: Our workshops take a great deal of advance planning and purchasing of supplies. Students that cancel 14 days or more prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a refund, minus a $20.00 cancellation fee. If a student cancels 14 days or less prior to the date of the class, no refund can be issued.
