Title: Ceramics: “Coiled Bowl”
Description: Create your very own unique bowl while learning the basic process of making coil pottery. Using coils of clay to make pottery is a technique that originated thousands of years ago and by cultures around the world. Even prior to the invention of the potter’s wheel, a wide variety of pottery was made by joining coils of clay and decorating them. Bowls, pitchers, vases, jars, and sculptures are among the types of pieces made using coils of clay. The oldest examples found by archeologists are over 7,000 years old. In this introductory workshop you will use this ancient technique to make a bowl that you can enjoy forever!
