Explore the history and culture of the Cherokee people of North Alabama. Watch Cherokee artisans as they demonstrate their crafts and even try your hand at some of them. Hear the stories of Cherokee families that lived in our area. Experience the interactive timeline of the Trail of Tears (10:30, 12:30, 2:30), see Cherokee masks and other artifacts and learn about their uses. Learn about Sequoyah and celebrate the 200th anniversary of the syllabary (written Cherokee language) that he invented. Children will enjoy making their own souvenir mask and a traditional Cherokee game at our kids’ crafts tables.
