Fiber Arts: “Introduction to Knitting”

Deadline to Register: April 7th at 5:00 pm

Description: Learn how to knit in this fun and relaxing intro to knitting class! During this class, students will learn the knit and purl stitch and how to cast on and bind off a project, as well as basic knitting terminology. Students will go home with a completed garter stitch washcloth, the start of a bordered garter stitch washcloth, and a pattern for a third cloth to start their knitting adventure.

Supply kits are being curated by the instructor and the yarn shop Hook a Frog located in Madison, Alabama. Kits will include 24″ circular needles in US size 8, worsted weight cotton-blend yarn, two stitch markers, and a tapestry needle. Patterns will also be supplied. Students may want to bring scratch paper and pens or a small pillow for their lap.

Instructor: Devora Curnutte learned to knit at the age of ten, when her aunt taught her the basic knit stitch. Since then, she’s expanded her knowledge and love of knitting, adding a plethora of knit knowledge to her arsenal. She loves to knit lace and stranded colorwork, and will drop everything she is doing to honor the knitting requests of her six-year-old son. An Appalachian native, Devora grew up and attended college in Southeast Ohio. After living in Ohio and Texas, she, her husband, their son and their six cats moved to Madison in late 2020. When she isn’t knitting, Devora can be found exploring with her family, reading, writing about motherhood, running, or practicing yoga.

No refunds will be issued less than 14 days from the start date of a class.*  To be fair and consistent, there can be no exceptions to this policy, regardless for the reason a cancelation is requested.

Thank you for understanding that this policy is in place to protect our artist instructors who spend time, energy, and money to create an amazing learning experience.

*We require a minimum number of students to hold a class. If this minimum is not met, the class may be canceled or rescheduled. In this case, a full refund will be offered.
