Fiber Arts: “Knitting a Bookmark”
Deadline to Register: June 18th at 5:00 pm
Description: No experience necessary for this fun bookmark-making class! This class is for the beginner as well as for knitters ready to take their craft to the next level. We will go over casting on, binding off, the knit stitch and the purl stitch, as well as expanding into lace-making techniques to make two bookmarks!
Supply kits are being curated by the instructor and Madison-Based Yarn Shop, Hook A Frog . Kits will include circular metal knitting needles, a mini-skein of fingering-weight wool-blend yarn, stitch markers, a tapestry needle, and patterns.
Instructor: Devora Curnutte learned to knit at the age of ten, when her aunt taught her the basic knit stitch. Since then, she’s expanded her knowledge and love of knitting, adding a plethora of knit knowledge to her arsenal. She loves to knit lace and stranded colorwork, and will drop everything she is doing to honor the knitting requests of her six-year-old son. An Appalachian native, Devora grew up and attended college in Southeast Ohio. After living in Ohio and Texas, she, her husband, their son and their six cats moved to Madison in late 2020. When she isn’t knitting, Devora can be found exploring with her family, reading, writing about motherhood, running, or practicing yoga.
Supplies and Attire: All materials and equipment are provided. Please wear comfortable clothing.
