Title: Fiber Arts: “Knitting a Scarf”

Description:  Join us for an evening knitting your very own scarf! Made for you or as a gift, this class is an advanced beginner/intermediate level class, and is great for someone seeking a refresher on knitting, or just starting out.  We will go over how to cast on, bind off, the knit and purl stitch, and how to read a pattern. By the end of class, students will have the start of a cozy scarf just waiting for cool weather, and all they’ll need to complete their project at home!

Supply kits are being curated by the instructor and Madison-Based Yarn Shop, Hook A Frog . Kits will include two skeins of Malabrigo Rios yarn in one of four colorways, a set of 24” circular knitting needles in a size 8, two stitch markers, tapestry needle, and the free Wheat Scarf pattern by Tin Can Knits. There will be a variety of colors available at the class. You can choose upon arrival.

Instructor: Devora Curnutte learned to knit at the age of ten, when her aunt taught her the basic knit stitch. Since then, she’s expanded her knowledge and love of knitting, adding a plethora of knit knowledge to her arsenal. She loves to knit lace and stranded colorwork, and will drop everything she is doing to honor the knitting requests of her six-year-old son. An Appalachian native, Devora grew up and attended college in Southeast Ohio. After living in Ohio and Texas, she, her husband, their son and their six cats moved to Madison in late 2020. When she isn’t knitting, Devora can be found exploring with her family, reading, writing about motherhood, running, or practicing yoga.

Supplies and Attire: All materials and equipment are provided. Please wear comfortable clothing.

Time: Saturday, April 20th  (12:00pm – 4:00pm)

Tuition: $60.00

Supply Fee: $45.00
