Title: Folk School PreView: “Folk Flower Arrangement”
Join us for an evening of fun and folklife at our Folk School PreView! Held once a month during Burritt’s “Cocktails on the View” students will participate in a two hour introductory class taught by a Folk School instructor and enjoy cocktails and appetizers while creating their own project. Arrive at 5:00 pm and visit The View to purchase a drink and see the Huntsville skyline from Burritt’s 3000 square foot overlook. The class will begin at 5:30 and end by 7:30 giving you another thirty minutes to enjoy The View after class ends. A single serving charcuterie box is included with each ticket and will be served in class. These “previews” of our Folk School are perfect for socializing with friends or date night. Have a group of 6 or more and interested in a private event? Email jana.parris@huntsvilleal.gov.
Description: Students will learn how to create lovely flower arrangements by using flowers they can find in their own backyard. Each student will create their own unique arrangement using locally available plants and vintage containers, as well as how to use these plants in various ways to enhance their homes just like our grandmothers did.
Instructor: Originally a psychology graduate with the intent on studying landscape architecture, Lauren Concepcion has explored many creative paths. Getting her start about 6 years ago, all these paths eventually morphed and converged into something entirely different: wood-burning. Being a drawer and maker of things all her life, Lauren believes in filling our environments with thoughtful and meaningful pieces; that hand-made items are special, purposeful and invaluable. She hopes to share this belief, along with the reawakening of this forgotten technique, with others. Lauren Concepcion is a self-taught pyrographer and owner of her local pyrography business, LC Pyrography & Design. You can find Lauren at LCPyrography.com and on Instagram, @lc.pyrographydesign.

Cancelation Policy: Our workshops take a great deal of advance planning and purchasing of supplies. 25% of all ticket purchases are a non-refundable deposit. Students that cancel 30 days or more prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a refund, minus the non-refundable deposit. If a cancellation is requested 14 to 29 days from a class date, a refund of half the total price can be issued. No refunds will be issued less than 14 days from the start date of a class.* To be fair and consistent, there can be no exceptions to this policy, regardless for the reason a cancelation is requested.
Thank you for understanding that this policy is in place to protect our artist instructors who spend time, energy, and money to create an amazing learning experience.
*We require a minimum number of students to hold a class. If this minimum is not met, the class may be canceled or rescheduled. In this case, a full refund will be offered.
