Learn the centuries-old art of Pysanky. Make gorgeous decorative eggs using the batik (wax resist) method. Students will learn the meanings of traditional designs and colors, the method for making the design on the egg, color theory, and the history of Pysanky. This class is taught by Nicholas Pawluk, a local artist who has created Ukrainian Easter eggs for over thirty years and has taught classes throughout the Midwest and South. All materials are supplied by the instructor and are included in the price of the class. Students should wear comfortable, older clothing as dye and wax that could damage clothes will be used in this class.
Cost: $30 (Includes all supplies. Students leave with their egg and the kistka (stylus) used for placing wax on the egg).Deadline to register is Tuesday, May 16th.
Registering for this class indicates that the student is 19 years are older and understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets and in other promotional materials. Registration also indicates that student releases Burritt on the Mountain and the City of Huntsville, all their directors, employees, volunteers, and any persons associated with Burritt on the Mountain, from any liability for any bodily injury and property damage suffered by the attendee as a result of activities during the educational program.
