Glass: “Classic Stained Glass Box”

Title: Glass: “Classic Stained Glass Box”

Description: In this two day, *intermediate workshop, students will learn how to assemble and build the classic stained glass box.  The base of the box will be all bevels with a beveled mirror for the bottom.  The lid will contain a bevel with custom cut glass and will be edged in zinc for a clean and strong finish.  There will be lid instruction on how to hinge a lid and how to install a lid support chain. There will be a half hour break on each day for lunch. You may bring your own or order the boxed lunches below. 

*Intermediate- Students must have had a previous stained glass class that included glass cutting, fitting, copper foiling and soldering

Instructor: Karen Reed has been an art glass professional for over 35 years. Her work has been purchased for private collections in several countries, was requested for Christmas display at The White House, and is carried in galleries in four states. She has been a published, contributing editor for GLASS Craftsman magazine for 13 years. She has also written for: International Guild of Glass Artist’s publication: Common Ground Glass, Glass Art, the e-magazine artglassinfo.comFired Arts and Crafts and The Crafts Report. Teaching is a major component of Karen’s work. She has previously taught at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC and has delighted in teaching at Arrowmont School for Arts & Crafts and Appalachian Center for Crafts for over a decade. Locally, her work is available at The Huntsville Museum of Art and The Huntsville Art League (Lowe Mill).

Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided. Students should wear close-toed shoes.

Time: (9 hour workshop) Saturday, June 25th  (9:00am – 1:30pm) AND Sunday, June 26th (10:00am – 3:30pm)

Tuition: $155.00

Supply Fee: $20.00

Important Information: Registering for a workshop indicates that the student is 19 years of age or older and understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets or other promotional materials. Registration also indicates that the student releases Burritt on the Mountain and the City of Huntsville, all their directors, employees, volunteers, and any persons associated with Burritt on the Mountain, from any liability for any bodily injury and/or property damage suffered by the attendee as a result of actives during the educational program.

Cancellation Policy: Students that cancel 14 days prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a full refund. Students that cancel 7 days prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a 50% refund. If student cancels 6 days or less prior to the date of the class no refund will be issued.
