Jewelry Making: “Block Pressed Silver Jewelry”
Deadline to Register: February 22 at 5:00pm
Description: Have you ever wanted a one-of-a-kind piece of artistic jewelry? Or wanted to give such a special gift? Then this class is perfect for you! We will be making unique works of jewelry art using silver clay in a technique very similar to block printing. Not familiar with block print processes? Not to worry… we cover that too! In this full day class, we will begin with design and work our way step by step through the process in a relaxed fun atmosphere. Each student will leave with one (or more) pieces of original sterling silver jewelry designed and created by them… Perfect accessories for every day!
Instructor: This class will be taught by local artist, Mary Gover, who holds a BFA in painting and a BA in art history from Birmingham Southern College. She attended the University of Alabama for her graduate work in art history, during which time she trained in traditional and alternative fine jewelry fabrication techniques. She also later received her certification in interior design from UAH. After specializing in art conservation for many years, Mary began a 15 year career of teaching art to both children and adults. She makes each class an enjoyable experience for the beginner and experienced artist.
