Leather Working: “Passport Covers”
Description: This six hour workshop introduces students to the art of leather working. Students will learn about various tools and supplies, safety, and the skills of cutting, punching, beveling, grooving/layout, stitching, and, if time allows, stamping. By the end of the class you will have a beautiful passport cover to take home. Item can also be used as field notebook cover as sizing permits – useful to the birders and other naturalists!
Instructor: Kevin Yarbrough is a software engineer with a local aerospace company with a passion for traditional trades: tooling and process. Kevin has been a volunteer at Burritt Museum demonstrating blacksmithing and leather working and has taught many workshops with the Burritt Folk School. His goals are to make useful, aesthetically pleasing items while learning and sharing in a collaborative environment.
Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided.

Supply Fee: $20.00
Important Information: Registering for a workshop indicates that the student is 19 years of age or older and understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets or other promotional materials. Registration also indicates that the student releases Burritt on the Mountain and the City of Huntsville, all their directors, employees, volunteers, and any persons associated with Burritt on the Mountain, from any liability for any bodily injury and/or property damage suffered by the attendee as a result of actives during the educational program.
Cancelation Policy: Students that cancel 14 days prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a full refund. Students that cancel 7 days prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a 50% refund. If student cancels 6 days or less prior to the date of the class no refund will be issued.
