Let’s Hike Our New Trails!
10:00-noon – Hike Old Quarry Trail
or 1:00-3:00 – Hike Viduta Pike Trail
Our wonderful volunteers have completed NEW hiking trails over the past year and we want to show off their hard work. We will offer two hikes on this day and repeat the same offerings on Thursday. Pick which trail you want to explore today. Please wear weather-appropriate clothes and good hiking shoes. Reservations required. Cost: $15 per child, $12 per child for members.
- 10:00-Noon: Come explore the Old Quarry Trail and parts of the Rock Bluff Trail guided by a Burritt educator who will draw your attention to fascinating rock formations, animal habitats and tracks, and cool plants. Join in a geological experiment to determine which rock is sandstone. This hike is of moderate-level intensity. It is recommended for people who are 5 years of age or older and who are able to climb stairs and traverse uneven terrain. Join us as we enjoy the sights and sounds of nature!
- 1:00–3:00: Come discover the sights along the Viduta Pike Trail that leads to the Big Cove Turnpike, Discovery South Trail and Rock Bluff Trail. You will be guided by a Burritt educator who will draw your attention to points of interest such as animal tracks, unusual and beautiful plants and fungi, and rock formations. This hike is of moderate-level intensity. It is recommended for people who are 8 years of age or older (due to length of hike) and who are able to climb stairs and traverse uneven terrain. Join us as we enjoy the great outdoors!
Each hike takes approximately 2 hours
COVID-19 safety protocols will be observed at all Burritt events and activities.
