Deadline to Register: October 24th at 5:00pm
Description: Creating a cloth mâché figurine is a craft that all skill levels can enjoy. Participants will create the exact look they want for their finished ‘doll’ and will choose the final color. Participants will return for a second class session to complete the trim process. The finished figures are perfect decorations for the upcoming holidays as a tree topper, centerpiece, or other decoration. These figurines have passed through three generations in our family and look as good as the day they were created!
Please note: This is a two day class on October 31st and November 9th to allow drying time between sessions.
Instructor: Sherry Boyer is a retired college professor, has served as a children’s minister, and adores connecting through art. She has worked in crafts her entire life with embroidery, drawing, painting, quilting, and ceramics.
“I began making “Holiday Dolls” with my mother when I was in high school. The materials have changed since we learned together to fashion cloth soaked in wallpaper paste into a figurine that, when finished, appears to be porcelain. We have used common materials (a bedsheet) as well as personal materials (the gown in which I was christened, for example, now was incorporated into a Christmas tree-topper angel) in creating these figurines. This craft is engaging, uses one’s imagination, and is EXTREMELY easy to complete-very suitable to every skill and age level.”
Supplies and Attire: Students should wear comfortable attire that they don’t mind getting dirty or damp. Please also wear closed-toe shoes. All supplies and materials will be provided.
Time: Sunday, October 31st (1:00pm-4:00pm) and Tuesday, November 9th (12:00-2:00)
Supply Fee: $32.00
