Deadline to Register: September 9th at 5:00 pm
Description: Learn the techniques of woodburning with local pyrographer, Laruen Concepcion, while burning your own wall mounting plant hook! No experience is necessary. This class is suited for both beginners and intermediate woodburners. Lauren will teach her step-by-step process for completing wood-burning projects while teaching students basic and introductory wood-burning techniques, as well as show how to use and care for their wood-burners. All materials are included with registration. Designs will be provided. However, students are encouraged to bring their own designs if they prefer. Tracing paper and graphite paper will be provided and Lauren will assist students as they transfer their own designs onto their basswood mounts.
Basswood mount will be 12” in diameter, including a 4” metal plant hook & houseplant from our very own Botanica Huntsville shop. Students will get to wood-burn, as well as watercolor, to complete their project. For students wishing to bring their own designs: the wall mount is circular panel, 12 inches in diameter. When printing or drawing your designs, be sure to scale to this dimension, while keeping in mind the 4” metal plant hook that will be mounted on the board. Please reference the workshop photo before choosing your design.

Instructor: Originally a psychology graduate with the intent on studying landscape architecture, Lauren Concepcion has explored many creative paths. Getting her start about 6 years ago, all these paths eventually morphed and converged into something entirely different: wood-burning. Being a drawer and maker of things all her life, Lauren believes in filling our environments with thoughtful and meaningful pieces; that hand-made items are special, purposeful and invaluable. She hopes to share this belief, along with the reawakening of this forgotten technique, with others. Lauren Concepcion is a self-taught pyrographer and owner of her local pyrography business, LC Pyrography & Design. You can find Lauren at LCPyrography.com and on Instagram, @lc.pyrographydesign.
Supplies and Attire: All materials and equipment are provided. Please wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes. Clothing should be comfortable. No long sleeves or fabric that cannot be rolled up or moved out of the way of the pen while burning. If students have their own burners they would like to bring they may do so. Burners will be available for purchase after the class if students would like to do so.
Time: Friday, September 16th (5:00pm – 9:00pm)
Supply Fee: $50.00 (includes plant)

No refunds will be issued less than 14 days from the start date of a class.* To be fair and consistent, there can be no exceptions to this policy, regardless for the reason a cancelation is requested.
Thank you for understanding that this policy is in place to protect our artist instructors who spend time, energy, and money to create an amazing learning experience.
