Each one has amazing stories waiting for you to discover. \nPlay\, Create\, and Explore \nKids\, ages 4–12\, can jump into exciting activities: \n• Old-fashioned games that let you play like children in the 1800s \n• Heritage crafts and skills that let you see what it was like to make things for your family and home before modern conveniences \n• Panning for gemstones and fool’s gold at the sluice like the prospectors did during the Alabama gold rush of 1829 \n• Searching for the answers to the We the People scavenger hunt \nLearn on Your Way \nAt each stop\, find a few fun facts about the families that lived in the houses located in our historic park or scan easy QR codes for more in-depth knowledge about the past. DESCRIPTION:Shhhh! Secrets of the Forest: A Nature Mystery Camp \nJune 1-5\, 2026 \nJoin us for a week of outdoor discovery and imaginative exploration. Set on Burritt’s beautiful grounds\, this camp invites children to slow down\, look closely\, and connect with the natural world through a story-based mystery woven throughout the week. As campers explore Burritt’s trails\, farm areas\, and outdoor spaces\, they will follow a nature-themed storyline that encourages them to observe animal tracks\, habitats\, and behaviors. Guided by our staff — and inspired by the wildlife that lives on and around the mountain — children will investigate clues\, notice patterns in nature\, and learn how animals move through the landscape in search of food\, shelter\, and safe places to rest. With plenty of fresh air\, open spaces for games\, and time to make new friends\, campers will enjoy a balanced mix of exploration\, hands-on crafts\, and active play each day.
