A day of Open Hearth Cooking, Blacksmithing and Fires Burning throughout the Historic Park! Always a favorite with our visitors, you won’t want to miss Burritt’s Fire on the Mountain on Saturday, March 5th, from 10:00am – 3:00pm. Our historic cooks will transport you back to the 1800s as you see, hear, and smell their work as they prepare historic recipes over our open fires and cast-iron cook stove. In addition, our blacksmiths will be firing up the forges throughout the historic park to demonstrate this fascinating skill.

Join us for a taste of springtime on the farm Saturday April 2 10am-4pm.  Visit our barnyard animals, experience historic skills, and learn about life on the farm during the 1800’s.  Visitors will be fascinated by the sheep-shearing and blacksmithing demonstrations.  Come observe wool being spun into yarn, milk our faux cow, Boxy, and play with old-fashioned toys. You will leave with a new appreciation for modern conveniences after trying historic tasks such as rug beating, butter churning, and mattress stuffing!  Listen to musicians throughout the park play traditional instruments and music enjoyed during our Alabama beginnings.
