Round Top Bushcraft & Survival camp will be offered each morning from 9:00 to noon and Mountain Top Makers will be offered each afternoon from 1:00-4:00. Both camps offer immersive\, hands-on experiences that are engaging\, exciting and exceptional. Campers will learn new skills by doing. \nFor families that need a more flexible schedule we offer extended day options. Campers who register for Round Top Bush Camp can also register for morning extended day with an arrival time as early as 7:30am for a cost of $10. Campers registered in either camp can also register for lunch time extended day from 12:00 to 1:00 for $7\, and campers registered for Mountain Top Makers can register for afternoon extended day from 4:00 to as late as 5:30 for $10. Whether your child is brand new to sewing or ready to take their skills to the next level\, these two camps are designed to build confidence\, spark creativity\, and encourage hands on learning in a fun\, supportive environment. \nWith a small class size (1 teacher for every 5 students)\, every camper gets plenty of personal attention as they learn\, explore\, and create. \nCampers can bring their own sewing machine\, bobbins and optional ¼-inch quilting presser foot. For the Intermediate Sewing camp\, they will need a walking foot too. There is also an option to borrow a sewing machine and accessories from Burritt on the Mountain with a refundable $75 deposit. \nEach day also includes time to explore Burritt’s beautiful historic park\, learn about traditional fiber arts\, and enjoy outdoor breaks on Burritt’s beautiful grounds. As campers explore Burritt’s trails\, farm areas\, and outdoor spaces\, they will follow a nature-themed storyline that encourages them to observe animal tracks\, habitats\, and behaviors. Guided by our staff — and inspired by the wildlife that lives on and around the mountain — children will investigate clues\, notice patterns in nature\, and learn how animals move through the landscape in search of food\, shelter\, and safe places to rest. With plenty of fresh air\, open spaces for games\, and time to make new friends\, campers will enjoy a balanced mix of exploration\, hands-on crafts\, and active play each day. SUMMARY:Historic Park Architectural Tour
DESCRIPTION:May is Preservation Month\, and there is no better time to take a closer look at the buildings that define Burritt’s Historic Park. \nJoin us for special Architectural Tours that go beyond the surface to explore how these structures were built\, how they were used\, and why they matter today. From hand-hewn logs and original construction techniques to the stories of the people who lived and worked in these spaces\, these tours offer a deeper understanding of everyday life in 19th-century North Alabama. \nBurritt on the Mountain is home to six 19th century historic houses and the distinctive 1938 Burritt Mansion\, representing five unique architectural styles. Among them\, the Dogtrot reflects a traditional Southern design\, the Hall-and-Parlor style traces its roots to medieval England\, and the Saddlebag house type stems from Scotch Irish origins. Spend a few hours with us exploring the details that make each structure truly one of a kind. \nWe will gather at the Welcome Center to begin our tour. While there are benches in the park\, this will be mostly a walk-and-talk event\, so wear comfortable shoes. \nTours are included with General Admission or your Burritt Membership. Spots are limited\, so be sure to plan ahead and RSVP to reserve your spot.

Will take a short walk around the park to identify some birds. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars. \n11:15\, Noon\, 1:00\, and 3:00 Caring for Chickens  \nVisit the Burritt Barnyard to view a chicken habitat and meet and feed the chickens. Learn what it takes to create your own flock of egg layers. The eggs laid at Burritt are sold in Josie’s gift shop. \nTommy Howell Bird Encounter Nature Program   1:30-2:30pm Meet in the Church             \nCome enjoy Tommy’s “Beauties from the Sky” program. This outstanding collection of unusual birds will impress you! This fun and educational outing will fascinate the entire family. Seating is limited\, and it is on a first come first served basis. The doors open at 1:15\, and no one will be seated after the show begins. \nBird crafts for kids in the Folkschool Classroom – 10am-4pm \n  \nRegular Burritt admission rates apply\, and these events are free to Burritt Members.
