We will cover all the basics and if you decide to continue after the class you will be sent home with some supplies until you can obtain more.  Class is suitable for ages 10 and up.  Under 19 must be accompanied by a participating adult. \nInstructor:  Brittney M. Hughes is a basket-maker from Ft. Payne\, Alabama who has been making Southern Longleaf pine needle baskets since 2010. She was drawn to the coiling technique because it is simple\, beautiful\, and has a rich history around the world. Brittney loves gathering natural materials outside and adding little ‘found’ treasures like nuts\, rocks\, acorns\, feathers\,  and shells to make each basket one of a kind.  Over the years\, she has branched out into other creative projects too\, including chair weaving\, reed baskets\, stained glass mosaics and more.  She enjoys working with her hands and trying new traditional crafts in addition to teaching others\, sharing what she knows\,  and encouraging people to give these old school crafts a try. \n Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided -pine needles\, sewing needles and sinew/thread and a small center for the basket plus additional material to take home \nTime: Tuesday\, May 19th  (9:30am-2:30pm) \nTuition: $55.00 \nSupply Fee: $30.00 \nLevel: Beginner \n~~~~~~ \nImportant Information: Registering for a workshop indicates that the student is 19 years of age or older and understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets or other promotional materials. SUMMARY:Shhhh! Secrets of the Forest: A Nature Mystery Camp July 13th-17th
DESCRIPTION:Shhhh! Secrets of the Forest: A Nature Mystery Camp \nJuly 13-17\, 2026 \nJoin us for a week of outdoor discovery and imaginative exploration. Set on Burritt’s beautiful grounds\, this camp invites children to slow down\, look closely\, and connect with the natural world through a story-based mystery woven throughout the week. As campers explore Burritt’s trails\, farm areas\, and outdoor spaces\, they will follow a nature-themed storyline that encourages them to observe animal tracks\, habitats\, and behaviors. Guided by our staff — and inspired by the wildlife that lives on and around the mountain — children will investigate clues\, notice patterns in nature\, and learn how animals move through the landscape in search of food\, shelter\, and safe places to rest. With plenty of fresh air\, open spaces for games\, and time to make new friends\, campers will enjoy a balanced mix of exploration\, hands-on crafts\, and active play each day. One day during the week will include a longer hike on Burritt’s nature trails (weather permitting) as part of the ongoing adventure. \nRegistration deadline Tuesday\, July 7\, 2026  \nMore Camp Details & Registration!
