VIP reserved tables can be purchased\, and many tables are available with open seating. Small appetizers and snacks are sold at the event. \nWant to guarantee your seat? DESCRIPTION:Deadline to Register: April 1 at 5:00pm \nTitle: Weekday Series: “Stained Glass Jewelry Dish” \nDescription: Join us to make your own dish that is perfect for holding jewelry or other small items. A selection of glass colors and textures will be available. Beginners welcome! \nInstructors:  This class will be taught by local artists Peace Smith and Travis Hicks. Peace and Travis are a married couple\, working as artists in several media – including stained glass. They exhibit with Huntsville Art League and have a studio space (both located inside Lowe Mill). Fun fact: Peace and Travis took their very first stained glass class at Burritt Folk School! \nSupplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided. There will be a 30 minute break taken approximately halfway through the class. You may bring a lunch or snacks. \nTime: Saturday\, March 1 (9:00am – 2:30pm) \nTuition: $95.00 \nSupply Fee: $25.00 \nLevel:  All Levels \n~~~~~~ \nImportant Information: Registering for a workshop indicates that the student is 19 years of age or older and understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets or other promotional materials. Registration also indicates that the student releases Burritt on the Mountain and the City of Huntsville\, all their directors\, employees\, volunteers\, and any persons associated with Burritt on the Mountain\, from any liability for any bodily injury and/or property damage suffered by the attendee as a result of actives during the educational program. \nCancelation Policy:  Our workshops take a great deal of advance planning and purchasing of supplies. 25% of all ticket purchases are a non-refundable deposit. Students that cancel 30 days or more prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a refund\, minus the non-refundable deposit. No refunds will be issued less than 30 days from the start date of a class.*  To be fair and consistent\, there can be no exceptions to this policy\, regardless for the reason a cancelation is requested. \nThank you for understanding that this policy is in place to protect our artist instructors who spend time\, energy\, and money to create an amazing learning experience.  \n*We require a minimum number of students to hold a class. If this minimum is not met\, the class may be canceled or rescheduled. In this case\, a full refund will be offered.

SUMMARY:Mansion Exhibit - History Lives On: Preserving Alabama’s Rosenwald Schools
DESCRIPTION:MANSION EXHIBIT\nHistory Lives On: Preserving Alabama’s Rosenwald Schools \nBurritt Museum is proud to announce that History Lives On: Preserving Alabama’s Rosenwald Schools will be the Spring 2025 exhibit in the Burritt Mansion. The exhibit is on loan from Auburn University’s College of Architecture\, Design and Construction who partnered with the Alabama Department of Archives to study the partnership between Julius Rosenwald and Booker T. Washington and the importance of what these men accomplished. The exhibit also focuses on the local communities and their roles in raising funds to support these educational projects. \nIn the early part of the 20th century\, the Rosenwald School Program\, ending in 1932\, constructed over 5\,000 schools for 600\,000 students throughout 15 states. The goal was to improve education for rural African American children in the South by offering basic education in a clean\, healthy environment and teaching industrial and home economics classes. Rosenwald Schools ensured the opportunity for a better future for many rural children. \nHistory Lives On: Preserving Alabama’s Rosenwald Schools exhibit will open on January 28th and run through May. This exhibit is included with general admission to Burritt. \n
