I have taught the following courses over the years: Art I\, Drawing I/II\, Photo I/II\, Painting I/II\, AP Studio Art 2-D design\, AP Drawing\, Ceramic I/II\, Magnet II and Magnet IV. I currently teach Ceramic I and Ceramic II and have been doing so for a few years now. DESCRIPTION:Deadline to Register: July 19th at 5:00pm \nTitle: Textile Arts: “Shibori Dyeing” \nDescription: Discover the beauty of Shibori\, the traditional Japanese art of resist-dyeing\, in this hands-on class designed for adults. Students will explore a variety of folding\, binding\, and stitching techniques to create unique patterns on fabric. Throughout the class\, participants will experiment with different methods while dyeing multiple cloth pieces to take home. \nInstructor:  This class will be taught by local weaver Emily Wallace. Emily has been teaching weaving\, spinning\, and other fiber arts to the public for  over 10 years. She previously owned a yarn shop in Hartselle\, AL and has taught various workshops at several yarn shops and studios. She  currently has a weaving studio at Lowe Mill Arts (studio #311) where she teaches and sells handwoven items. Attendees will have several options for finished projects including a finished mini quilt\, table runner top\, or the start of a quilt top. This is a perfect beginner-level sewing and quilting class. We encourage you to bring your sewing machines but will also have a few available. If you need to reserve one of our machines\, please include a free machine rental ticket below with your order.  \nInstructor:  Beth is a history instructor and quilter. She is involved in several state history organizations and her quilt guild. DESCRIPTION:Deadline to Register: July 19th at 5:00pm \nTitle: Glass: “Stained Glass Layered Floral Panel” \nDescription:  This lovely little floral panel has a challenge – it is constructed on five layers!  This class is for the intermediate glass enthusiast\, a fun project that will open up many levels of creativity. Previous glass cutting/soldering experience required! \nInstructor:  This class will be taught by local artist and Burritt Folk School Principle Instructor\, Karen Reed. Karen Reed (Earthstar Glass) has been an art glass professional for over 40 years. Her work has been purchased for private collections in several countries\, was requested for Christmas display at The White House\, and is carried in galleries in several states. She has been a published\, contributing editor for GLASS Craftsman magazine for 13 years.  She has also written for : International Guild of Glass Artist’s publication: Common Ground Glass\, Glass Art\, Fired Arts\, The Crafts Report and the e-magazine artglassinfo.com  Teaching is a major component of Karen’s work and she has previously taught at folk schools in nine states including John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown\, NC\, Arrowmont School for Arts & Crafts and The Appalachian Center for Craft. She had been at Burritt Folk School for the last six years.
