DESCRIPTION:Deadline to Register: July 15th at 5:00pm \nTitle: Weekday Series: “Stained Glass Layered Floral Panel” \nDescription:  This lovely little floral panel has a challenge – it is constructed on five layers!  This class is for the intermediate glass enthusiast\, a fun project that will open up many levels of creativity. Previous glass cutting/soldering experience required! \nInstructor:  This class will be taught by local artist and Burritt Folk School Principle Instructor\, Karen Reed. Karen Reed (Earthstar Glass) has been an art glass professional for over 40 years. Her work has been purchased for private collections in several countries\, was requested for Christmas display at The White House\, and is carried in galleries in several states. She has been a published\, contributing editor for GLASS Craftsman magazine for 13 years.  She has also written for : International Guild of Glass Artist’s publication: Common Ground Glass\, Glass Art\, Fired Arts\, The Crafts Report and the e-magazine artglassinfo.com  Teaching is a major component of Karen’s work and she has previously taught at folk schools in nine states including John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown\, NC\, Arrowmont School for Arts & Crafts and The Appalachian Center for Craft. She had been at Burritt Folk School for the last six years. Locally her work is available in Josie’s Gift Shop at Burritt on the Mountain and in The Huntsville Art League (Lowe Mill) \n \nSupplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided. DESCRIPTION:Deadline to Register: July 18th at 5:00pm \nTitle: Jewelry Making: “Dichroic glass and Sterling Bracelet” \nDescription: Students will create a one of a kind custom sterling silver and dichroic glass cab bracelet.  The students will learn the basics of wire wrapping and using specific tools for specific skills.  They will also learn how to make their own clasp and to size for their particular wrist size.  Glass cabochons will already be provided ready to attach to the bracelet. At the end of class\, you will have a beautiful bracelet. This is a great beginner class\, as well as\, a prerequisite for one of Elesa’s intermediate projects/classes. \nInstructor: This class will be taught by local artist and Burritt Folk School Principle Instructor\, Elesa Phares. Elesa has taught jewelry making at Burritt on the Mountain for four years. Elesa has a BS in Radio/TV/Graphics with emphasis in 3D animation from Middle Tennessee State University with minors in art and psychology. Elesa has always drawn and painted since she can remember and loves experimenting with different materials. She learned to wire wrap as a creative outlet that she could do while her children were young. As they got older\, she expanded her skills to fabrication\, PMC\, soldering\, and fused glass. Elesa has taught classes at Beadfest in Dallas\, Philadelphia and published an article in Art Jewelry Magazine in 2008. She has participated in juried art shows in Middle Tennessee\, including White Oak\, TACA\, and was a base studio for the local Studio Tour.  She and her father were also featured on a segment of Tennessee Crossroads.
