Burritt's Primary Volunteer Force for over 25 years

Enthusiastic Guild members assist in all volunteer areas. They also assist and host special events to raise funds for the museum. Members of the Guild invite you to join them at their next meeting and discover how you can become involved!

How We Began…

When the Burritt Mansion was opened in 1955 as Huntsville Alabama’s first museum, daily operations were handled almost entirely by the Guild. As the Museum grew in audience, there was a need to organize the volunteers into a formal group. Chartered in 1982 and accredited by the Volunteer Center of Huntsville and Madison County Alabama in 1983, the newly organized group of volunteers became known as ARCHES.

Since 1982, the group dynamics continue to change. Each volunteer brings to Burritt a diversity which makes the Museum as multifaceted as our city has become. In 1992, ARCHES incorporated as an independent organization with 501 (c) (3) status. The name was changed to the Burritt Museum Guild in 1993.

Guild Meetings Focus on Fun, Projects, & Education

Guild meetings are generally held on the 4th Monday of each month.  (Check the calendar for changes due to holidays.)  Following a short business meeting, members are treated to a lesson about an exhibit, a guest speaker and/or enjoy working together on a seasonal project to benefit the museum.
