Welcome to Birding Day at Burritt on the Mountain
Quinn Wildlife Sanctuary – Opening Soon in Huntsville 10:15 am Folkschool Classroom
Come meet Alexis Quinn and learn about raptors and their unique adaptations. She will also discuss the plans for their sanctuary. The presentation will be at 10:15 am, but Alexis will be on-site till 3 pm with information about the sanctuary.
11:00-12:30 Birdwatching 101 with Randy Crouse from Audubon Society
Birding 101: This beginner birding class includes techniques for using binoculars and quick tips for spotting and identifying birds. Will take a short walk around the park to identify some birds. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars.
11:15, Noon, 1:00, and 3:00 Caring for Chickens
Visit the Burritt Barnyard to view a chicken habitat and meet and feed the chickens. Learn what it takes to create your own flock of egg layers. The eggs laid at Burritt are sold in Josie’s gift shop.
Tommy Howell Bird Encounter Nature Program 1:30-2:30pm Meet in the Church
Come enjoy Tommy’s “Beauties from the Sky” program. This outstanding collection of unusual birds will impress you! This fun and educational outing will fascinate the entire family. Seating is limited, and it is on a first come first served basis. The doors open at 1:15, and no one will be seated after the show begins.
Bird crafts for kids in the Folkschool Classroom – 10am-4pm
Regular Burritt admission rates apply, and these events are free to Burritt Members.
