Our staff is committed to making each field trip a memorable experience for your students. Be it Onsite at Burritt on the Mountain, Virtual or in your classroom, our guided educational tours reflect our commitment to quality education and are developed to meet Alabama Course of Study Standards as well as the National Education Standards.
Burritt on the Mountain offers educational programming for your class in three formats:
We are happy to work with you to provide an exciting educational experience for your students that meets their education needs while following the health and safety guidelines of your school.
Onsite field trips can be arranged for your group of 12 or more, Tuesday through Friday of each week by making reservations at least two weeks in advance. Choose one of our themed field trips or work with Burritt educators to create a custom-designed field trip experience for your class. Check out our many offerings.
If your students are required to stay at school or are even attending school virtually, consider an interactive virtual field trip. Burritt educators have worked diligently to convert some of our most popular field trips to an interactive virtual format. All of our virtual field trips include live interaction between a Burritt educator and your students- not just videos. Many of these virtual field trips include hands-on activities or activities that you can do with your students before or after the program.
Would you prefer that Burritt educators come to you and your students? Many of our programs are now available as outreach programs. We are happy to come to you.
Cancellations must be made two weeks before the scheduled visit to avoid a 25% charge. Cancellations or rescheduling due to weather issues may be made if there are severe weather warnings the morning of, including: thunderstorms, tornado watches and warnings.
Financial assistance may be available for qualifying groups. Burritt on the Mountain’s Education Scholarship Fund can be utilized to assist with the cost of onsite and virtual field trips as well as outreach programs. Funds are limited and will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis for Title I and other qualifying schools and organizations in Alabama. Burritt on the Mountain’s Education Scholarship Fund may be used to cover the cost of field trip education programs. Education Scholarship Funds will NOT cover transportation costs, purchases in the welcome center or admission to the site for field trip participants to stay past the educational programming time.
