Burritt on the Mountain is excited to partner with hte North Alabama Zoological Society (NALZS), Avy Elmore with the Alabama Wildlife Federation, and Beth Girard, a retired natural resource educator and Tennessee Naturalist program volunteer, to present Reptile Day. NALZS will bring their reptile ambassadors Noodle, a DeKay’s brown snake, Twickenham, the Sulcata tortoise, and Moose, the Cumberland slider turtle, which they will use to teach the differences between turtles and tortoises. NALZS representatives will also introduce you to a new surprise reptile. Avy Elmore will bring a young and a mature Eastern Box Turtle to discuss the differences as they grow and to explain what our state is doing to protect reptiles and keep them off the endangered species list. Beth Girard will bring her menagerie of reptiles including a legless lizard, a blue-tongue skink, a terrestrial non-tortoise turtle, and an aquatic turtle.

Seating for all presentations is limited and will be on a first come first served basis.

Beth Girard and her reptile friends 1:30-3:30pm in the Old Country Church

Meet Sal and Quazi, Burritt’s education snake ambassador 9:45-10:30am and 3:15-4pm in the Bendickson Family Pavilion

Visit Burritt Mansion, or go on our Blast in the Past scavenger hunt in the Historic Park & Barnyard 9am-5pm

Rosket City Shaved Ice will be onsite from 11:00-4:00
