Reptile Day with NALZS 10am-4pm Burritt on the Mountain is excited to partner with The North Alabama Zoological Society (NALZS) and the Stucki Family for our Reptile Day this year. NALZS will bring their reptile ambassadors Twickenham, the sulcata tortoise and Moose, the yellow-bellied turtle to teach the differences between turtles and tortoises. And NALZS’s resident herpetologist, Chase Bowman, will teach about our slithery snake reptile friends. The Stucki family is coming to share their beloved reptiles with our visitors. Come meet a bearded dragon and two African Pancake Tortoises.

CELEBRATE Huntsville Music Month at Burritt! Music on the Mountain Sunday, September 17th 12:30pm - 4:30pm Enjoy some old-time favorites as you wander through our Historic Park and listen to musicians share their love of making music the old-fashioned way. Visit for an hour or two or bring a picnic lunch and spend the day on the mountain. Admission includes a trip to the Burritt Mansion and/or hiking our trails.

African Americans in Education and the Arts February 10, 2024, 10am-4pm To commemorate Black History month, come celebrate “African Americans in Education and the Arts” at Burritt. Experience what it was like to be a student at a Rosenwald Schoolhouse in the early 20th century with hands-on activities led by a Burritt educator. Express your creativity with an African American folk-art craft and participate in a themed scavenger hunt throughout the Historic Park. Explore the life and legacy of Booker T. Washington, reformer and educator who founded what is now Tuskegee University.
