African Americans in Education and the Arts February 10, 2024, 10am-4pm To commemorate Black History month, come celebrate “African Americans in Education and the Arts” at Burritt. Experience what it was like to be a student at a Rosenwald Schoolhouse in the early 20th century with hands-on activities led by a Burritt educator. Express your creativity with an African American folk-art craft and participate in a themed scavenger hunt throughout the Historic Park. Explore the life and legacy of Booker T. Washington, reformer and educator who founded what is now Tuskegee University.
Busy on the weekend? This weekday class features the traditional quilt block and is a perfect introduction to making a stained glass panel. There will be a selection of colors and prints available.
This fun and relaxed three-hour workshop is great for anyone who has never used a potter's wheel, but always wanted to give it a try.
This intermediate project combines wire wrapping technique as well as metal stamping. Students will also create their own design in the copper using metal stamping technique. Must have taken our beginner wire wrapping workshop.
This beginner/intermediate project is a composite of several 17th-18th century rush lights. It would use either a burning "wick" or candle to provide light for the home.
