We will once again host a day of rollicking fun at this come-and-go event for kids and families. Quilts from our Collections April 2023 - January 2024 Quilts are not just a way to keep warm and to decorate a room, quilts often tell stories, and often it becomes a good mystery. Who made them, the fabric that was used, and who it might have been made for are all part of the story. Whatever the story, quilts are an amazing piece of art; they are beautiful and a testament to the handwork and skill of the quilter.

Learn how to knit in this fun and relaxing intro to knitting class! During this class, students will learn the knit and purl stitch and how to cast on and bind off a project, as well as basic knitting terminology.
Wire wrapping techniques in jewelry come in a wide variety of techniques. This class is an introduction to my particular technique that is perfect for any skill level. Students will create their own beautiful narrow sterling bracelet.

Goldilocks and the Three Singing Bears presented by Opera Huntsville Tuesday, April 18th | 10:00am Homeschool families, Burritt friends and members are invited to enjoy this family friendly opera on the mountain. Come watch the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears unfold as Goldie and Peek (little bear) begin to form a friendship when they try to find Goldie’s way home. Peek confides to Goldie that a sneaky robber snuck into his family’s house that very morning, licked his spoon and ate his soup.

Held during Burritt’s “Cocktails on the View,” students will participate in a two hour introductory class taught by Folk School instructor, Lindsey Boothe, and enjoy cocktails and appetizers while sanding and oiling their own charcuterie board.

Your support is pivotal to our educational programs, including camps, field trips, family festivals, and outreach. Your support assures the finances necessary for Burritt on the Mountain to build community through educational, artistic, and recreational experiences.
Join us for a taste of springtime on the farm Saturday April 29 10am-4pm. Visit our barnyard animals, experience historic skills, and learn about life on the farm during the 1800s. Visitors will be fascinated by the sheep-shearing and blacksmithing demonstrations. Come observe wool being spun into yarn, milk our faux cow, Boxy, and play with old-fashioned toys. You will leave with a new appreciation for modern conveniences after trying historic tasks such as rug beating, butter churning, and mattress stuffing! Listen to musicians throughout the park play traditional instruments and music enjoyed during our Alabama beginnings.
