Burritt Nature Rangers Camp: Acorns and Antics! September 29-October 4, 2024 | Children in Grades k-5th Calling all little leaf peepers and pumpkin pickers! Fall has arrived at Burritt on the Mountain and Nature Rangers Camp: Acorns and Antics is bursting with fall fun and adventure! Join us as we explore the wonders of autumn and celebrate all things harvest, from campfire snacks to farm traditions.
In this beginner level brush lettering class students will learn everything they need to know to get started with brush lettering. Students will go home with their starter kits including workbook, markers, and more!
Students will combine wire and beading skills to design and make a custom ginko cuff bracelet. They will use sterling silver wire, sterling beads and get creative with a wide variety of glass gingko beads to create a unique combination.
The term ugly jugs was first used in the early 1900's. Styles of face jugs range from realistic to highly fantastical. In this class you'll be provided with a basic wheel-thrown jug or mug (your choice) to decorate using hand-building techniques to create a face that is uniquely yours!
This weekday class will focus on several basic forging fundamentals. Using the forge, anvil, and basic hand tools students will learn tapering, spreading, scrolling, bending, and riveting as they make a letter opener.
This lovely openwork, stained glass flower will keep summer blooming throughout the year. This weekday class is a perfect introduction for those who are new to working in stained glass. All materials, tools and a choice of glass colors will be provided.

A series of demonstrations of historic skills and crafts in our Historic Park. Fall 2024 Saturday Series October 12, 10am-2pm - Gourd Carving Just in time for Halloween, we will demonstrate traditional carving with gourds, turnips, pumpkins & watermelons. Enjoy 19th century era ghost storytelling along with other period seasonal things. Upcoming Events October 26 – Braided Rug Making We will hopefully be completing 2 unfinished braided rugs and begin the process of preparing scrap material for future rugs. November 9, 10am-2pm - Candle Making and Dipping Burritt staff members will demonstrate candle dipping.

Come join us for a beginners hand-building clay workshop! In this stress-free lesson we will be making an acorn pinch pot with lid. You will be shown different tricks and techniques to create your clay masterpieces.
In this class, students will learn about the history and uses of this traditional herbal tonic while making their own using fresh garlic, ginger, honey and more. Each student will go home with their own jar to use over the coming cold months.

Fall on the Farm Saturday, October 19th | 10:00am - 4:00pm Join us for an inside look at a fall day on the farm! Say hello to our barnyard buddies, spend time in the kitchen with our seasoned open hearth cooks, and learn about food preservation through canning, drying, and fermenting the abundant harvest.
Take your pumpkin carving to the next level! In this class, students will learn the techniques of creating a shaved pumpkin design. The instructor will guide you through the steps of carving a scene on a locally grown pumpkin.
