Fiber Arts: “Quilted Stockings”
Deadline to Register: November 9th at 5:00pm
Description: Let’s make holiday stockings! This is a perfect beginner-level sewing and quilting class. We will use a pattern and audition our finished looks before sewing up the perfect gift or decoration for the holiday season. Stockings can be plain or jazzed with trims and a little extra sewing. After this class, you will want to make more, we promise! We encourage you to bring your sewing machines but will also have a few available to rent on a first come, first serve basis.
Instructor: Beth Hunter has been a history teacher at the college level for 12 years. She serves on the Executive Board and Board of Directors for the Alabama Historical Association and am a member of various historical societies and groups. Outside the classroom, her passion is quilting. She is currently writing a book about Alabama quilts, county by county. As a life-long Alabamian, she is interested in the stories behind quilts. While she came to quilting and sewing later in life, she has fond memories of sewing as a child with her grandmother. She feels quilting is an art form and should be celebrated. For this to continue, she feels we need to teach others, especially younger sewists.
Supplies and Attire: Cloth, batting and trim will be provided. Please bring the following with you:
Machine with accessories (remember sewing feet, bobbin, machine cords and pedal) or you may purchase a machine rental ticket below.
