Kate has been a vital part of our education team, generously giving her time and artistic talents to help our camps run smoothly. From the moment she aged out of attending the camps herself, she transitioned seamlessly into a leadership role—sharing her knowledge, creativity, and kindness with every child she meets. Kate is a natural when it comes to working with kids, and we are so fortunate to have her as part of the Burritt family.
Kate first became involved with Burritt through her own interest in our camps, and over the years, her passion for history, nature, and education has only grown stronger. She finds joy in seeing children learn through hands-on experiences and believes there’s something truly special about watching them grow in just a week’s time. Kate says what makes Burritt unique is the sense of community and the interactive museum experience that sparks excitement and curiosity in young learners. We couldn’t agree more—and we couldn’t be more grateful to have Kate as part of our team. Thank you, Kate, for all that you do.

2024 Burritt Volunteer of the Year Award: Vicky Yager
Every once in a while, an individual comes along whose passion, dedication, and generosity shine so brightly that they leave an unforgettable mark on our community. This year, we are proud to recognize Vicky Yager as our 2024 Volunteer of the Year—a true cornerstone of our organization who embodies the spirit of service in every way.
From special events to education, open hearth cooking to tending the garden, and even caring for the bee hives, Vicky brings unmatched enthusiasm and expertise to every task. Whether guiding visitors through hands-on experiences, sharing historical knowledge, or ensuring that every visitor has a positive experience, her contributions elevate everything we do.
Additionally, Vicky has also been working very closely with the HP manager this year, organizing inventory lists, deep cleaning storage spaces in the Historic Park, and lending an overall helping hand on any ongoing projects as needed. Her efforts have significantly contributed to the smooth operation and upkeep of the Historic Park.
Vicky’s tireless commitment has enriched not only our programs but also the lives of everyone who has had the pleasure of working alongside her. Her dedication to preserving traditions, educating the public, and fostering a welcoming environment has been truly inspiring.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Vicky for her invaluable contributions and unwavering support. Our community is stronger, richer, and more vibrant because of you. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
