Activities for Learning Pods

Looking for fun and educational activities your pod can enjoy?

Have you and another family (or more) formed a pod so that you and your children can have social contact while limiting your exposure?

If so, consider visiting Burritt on the Mountain. You can:

  • Explore our historic park and hike our woodland trails as you enjoy the fresh mountain air during a leisurely self-paced day. (Members admitted free, regular admission rates apply).
  • Sign up for a field trip with your pod. Burritt educators lead a wide variety of activities that will engage all of your pod members. Check out our Field Trips for Pods. Field trips usually last 1.5 to 2 hours. ($15 per person, $9 per person for members, minimum of $80 per pod, maximum number of attendees is 15 including chaperones. The rest of the museum may be enjoyed before or after your field trip).
  • Our Home School Happenings classes, which offer a different topic every month, are open to you. Reserve spots in the same class session for your pod members or inquire about setting up a private class for your pod. (Regular class rates apply for the public classes and do not include admission to the museum before or after class. For a private class the cost is $15 per person, $9 per person for members, minimum of $80 per pod, maximum number of attendees is 15 including chaperones. Your pod members may enjoy the museum before or after your private class).
  • Arrange for a private hike on our nature trails with a staff guide or enjoy a guided tour of our historic park and barnyard. Learn about history, habitats, animals and more. ($15 per person, $9 per person for members, minimum of $80 per pod, maximum number of attendees is 15 including chaperones. Your pod members may enjoy the museum before or after your guided activity).

Make plans now for a private pod event just for you! Prices for private pod events includes access to the museum as if you also paid general admission that day. Plan to enjoy all that the museum has to offer either before or after your pod event.

Important Information You Need to Know if Planning a Pod Activity

Wearing masks and social distancing are required in buildings and when you are near Burritt staff members, volunteers and other visitors.

Chaperones and children must pay to participate.

One (1) adult chaperone is required for every four (4) children during the pod’s activity. For individual pods or groups, Burritt will accept the chaperone(s) with each pod or group as loco parentis (legally functioning “in the place of a parent.”) Burritt asserts that it is the responsibility of the chaperone(s) and the legal guardians to ensure that when a child is not accompanied by their legal guardian to Burritt that the following conditions are met:

  • Chaperone(s) will have phone numbers on their person to contact the child(ren)’s legal guardians,
  • Chaperone(s) will possess information on their person about any medical condition which might affect the child(ren) during the field trip or activity, including any necessary medical supplies, medication, or instructions,
  • Chaperone(s) will have written permission on their person, acknowledging the legal guardian’s consent for the chaperone(s) to supervise the child(ren), transport the child(ren) to/from Burritt, and seek medical treatment for the child(ren) in the case of an emergency, and
  • Chaperone(s) will possess any other information, permissions, or items necessary to ensure the safety of the child(ren) attending Burritt.

All pods, groups and individuals are responsible for ensuring that they possess the foregoing documents and information in order to participate in a field trip or activity at Burritt on the Mountain.
