Deadline to Register: November 8th at 5:00pm

Title: Botanical Design: “Holiday Mailbox Arrangement”

Description: Get into the holiday spirit with a hands-on workshop that brings the beauty of nature to your front yard! In this class, students will learn how to create a stunning, long-lasting holiday mailbox decoration using fresh greenery foraged from their own backyards. Weather permitting at the end of the class we will take an optional walk around the museum grounds to point out types of appropriate greenery to add to your own mailbox decor.

Each participant will receive:

  • A sturdy arrangement base
  • A 3-foot length of festive ribbon to make your bow in class
  • A curated list of long-lasting natural materials ideal for foraging
  • Step-by-step instructions for assembling a decoration on your home mailbox.

This class is perfect for anyone who loves crafting, decorating, or simply wants to add a personal, nature-inspired touch to their holiday décor. You’ll leave with the knowledge and confidence to build your own mailbox decoration at home—just in time for the season!

Instructor: Beth Phillips says “I weave lighting, sculptures and basketry using whole and split Kudzu vines. I also make paper from the leaves, and I recently learned the ancient process of extracting the fiber from the vines to weave cloth and am excitedly pursuing that side of creating with kudzu at present. I regularly forage materials from nature to include in my artwork and botanical arrangements. Images and examples of my more recent work can be seen on my social media pages on FB and IG @kudzumama. With the invasive nature of kudzu such an environmental and ecological issue in the South, I love the opportunity to share all the wonderful uses and products that can be derived from such a maligned vine.”

Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided.

Time: Saturday, November 15th, 1:00pm-3:00pm

Tuition: $80.00

Supply Fee: $10.00

Level: Beginner
