Title: Folk Traditions: “Pumpkin Carving”

Description:  Take your pumpkin carving to the next level! In this class, students will learn the techniques of creating a shaved pumpkin design. The instructor will guide you through the steps of carving a scene on a locally grown pumpkin.  Please note: The  photo included here is from last year’s class. This year will feature different design(s).

Instructor: Danielle Treadway Lazar is an artist, stay-at-home parent, and cottage home baker specializing in customized decorated cookies and hand painted cakes. She received her BA in Art with concentrations in Graphic Design and Photography from UAH in 2009. She has a passion for creating in any form, with experience in film and traditional darkroom photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, print and web design, and sewing. In recent years she has developed a particular interest in creating transitory works of art through her cookies, cakes, and pumpkins. She began carving elaborate pumpkin designs as a hobby over 13 years ago and has developed this skill into a yearly tradition celebrated by her friends and family. When she’s not making cookies or chasing her 4 year old, she enjoys reading, hiking, volunteering with Little Mountain Forest School, gardening, and playing games.
