Title: Weekday Series: Visual Arts- ‘Watercolor Birding’

Description: Spring is in the air, and the first blooms are stretching toward the sunshine! Join us for a refreshing watercolor flower painting experience that’s perfect for easing into the season. Spend a relaxing couple of hours with a skilled instructor who will guide you step‑by‑step into the world of watercolor florals. Your tuition includes all supplies, just bring yourself and a willingness to create. Whether you’re a complete beginner or already comfortable with a brush, this class is designed to be calming, fun, and inspiring.

Instructor: Your instructor, Lynn Lawrence, has been painting since she was 7 years old. She started watercolor painting under the tutelage of her aunt, Ruth Brown, a well-known Alabama watercolorist.  She went on to compete in high school, in a variety of media, and was offered a scholarship to the Art Institute of Atlanta. Sadly, she was pushed to pursue a business degree instead of following her heart.  Much later in life, Lynn became a Certified Bob Ross instructor and taught his wet-on-wet technique throughout North Alabama up until 2020.  She brings a love for light, color, and nature to every classroom.

 Supplies and Attire:  All supplies included with tuition, including – Spiral-bound Flowers Watercolor Workbook featuring 12 different flowers to paint, durable 120lb custom watercolor paper, paint set includes 12 basic colors, plus black and brown, and one high-quality watercolor brush (normally sold separately), travel-ready 6.5 by 9-inch workbook and paint set in its own case.

Time: Thursday, April 16th, 2026 (1:00pm-3:00pm)

Tuition: $80.00 (includes instruction, book, and paints)

Tuition for returning students: $60 (Returning students will bring their own Emily Lux paint set from home)

Important Information: Registering for a workshop indicates that the student is 19 years of age or older and understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets or other promotional materials. Registration also indicates that the student releases Burritt on the Mountain and the City of Huntsville, all their directors, employees, volunteers, and any persons associated with Burritt on the Mountain, from any liability for any bodily injury and/or property damage suffered by the attendee as a result of activities during the educational program.

Cancellation Policy:  Our workshops take a great deal of advanced planning and purchasing of supplies. 25% of all ticket purchases are a non-refundable deposit. Students that cancel 30 days or more prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a refund, minus the non-refundable deposit. No refunds will be issued less than 30 days from the start date of a class.*  To be fair and consistent, there can be no exceptions to this policy, regardless the reason a cancellation is requested.

*We require a minimum number of students to hold a class. If this minimum is not met, the class may be cancelled or rescheduled. In this case, a full refund will be offered.
