Women’s Work ,Women’s Wear – Life of Women in the 1800s

May 13 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

“Women’s Work, Women’s Wear”
Saturday, May 13th | 10am – 4pm

Jump into the past with a day all about Women’s Work and Women’s Wear. Join us to explore life as it was lived by women in the 1800s. Experience their daily life and the jobs they did at home, on the farm, and out in the world. Learn what it took to be a 19th century mother, try your hand at a farm woman’s barnyard chores, enjoy helping with some of the household arts that were treasured for many generations, and step with them into careers like school teaching and beyond.

As you wander through the 1800s, see the changes in the fashions that the women of our historic park families would have worn and admired, and create your own fashions for an 1800s paper doll. Appreciate the strength of women who came before and the many roles they led. Activities are included with general admission or Burritt membership.
