The Struggle to Vote: The Nation, Alabama and the South - 1848 to 1920 Exhibit Open October 24, 2020 through April 12, 2021 The Burritt Mansion’s winter-spring exhibit is in partnership with the League of Women Voters of the Tennessee Valley, as part of the League’s commemoration of the 19th Amendment’s Centennial and the formation of the League of Women Voters that was created from the woman suffrage movement. The movement began in 1848 when two women, from the anti-slavery movement, had a meeting with over 300 men and women in attendance.
