Let Freedom Ring for All Saturday, June 22nd | 10am - 4pm Join us as we celebrate the spirit of freedom and the remarkable journey of the United States of America towards Independence. At 10:15 we will have a formal raising of the flag ceremony. At the close of the day, 3:45pm, we will formally retreat the flag. Local Boys and Girls Scouts, ROTC cadets, and Veterans groups will come together to share their personal stories and experiences of patriotism and public service. Hear firsthand accounts of dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our country's ideals.

Reptile Day with North Alabama Zoological Society & Alabama Wildlife Federation 10am-4pm Burritt on the Mountain is excited to partner with hte North Alabama Zoological Society (NALZS), Avy Elmore with the Alabama Wildlife Federation, and Beth Girard, a retired natural resource educator and Tennessee Naturalist program volunteer, to present Reptile Day. NALZS will bring their reptile ambassadors Noodle, a DeKay’s brown snake, Twickenham, the Sulcata tortoise, and Moose, the Cumberland slider turtle, which they will use to teach the differences between turtles and tortoises. NALZS representatives will also introduce you to a new surprise reptile.

Celebrate Huntsville Music Month! Music on the Mountain Sunday, September 15th 12:30pm – 4:30pm Enjoy some old-time favorites as you wander through our Historic Park and listen to musicians share their love of making music the old-fashioned way. Visit for an hour or two or bring a picnic lunch and spend the day on the mountain. Admission includes a trip to the Burritt Mansion and/or hiking our trails. A series of demonstrations of historic skills and crafts in our Historic Park. Fall 2024 Saturday Series October 12, 10am-2pm - Gourd Carving Just in time for Halloween, we will demonstrate traditional carving with gourds, turnips, pumpkins & watermelons. Enjoy 19th century era ghost storytelling along with other period seasonal things. Upcoming Events October 26 – Braided Rug Making We will hopefully be completing 2 unfinished braided rugs and begin the process of preparing scrap material for future rugs. November 9, 10am-2pm - Candle Making and Dipping Burritt staff members will demonstrate candle dipping.
