In this class you will learn how to hand build clay gnomes. It will be a step by step process, so no stressing! We will teach you a few different clay techniques and help you be creative with the finishing touches.
“Women’s Work, Women’s Wear” Saturday, May 11th | 10am - 4pm Join us as we travel back in time to discover what life was like for Tennessee Valley women in the 1800’s. Take a stroll through Burritt’s Historic Park and meet the ladies who once lived in our cabins. You will experience their day-to-day roles as wife, mother, teacher, and their work off the farm. As you wander through the 1800’s, see the changes in fashions, that the women of our cabin families would have worn and admired.

This beginner wheel throwing workshop will cover the basics of shaping clay using an electric pottery wheel. Your instructor will guide you through the essential steps of creating a wheel thrown vessel.

Make your own lampshade from kudzu vines! Using whole and split kudzu vines, students will learn the free-form open weave method to create their own unique kudzu lampshade. Beginners welcome!

2024 marks the 31st Season of the City Lights & Stars Concert Series at Burritt on the Mountain, and we have 8 concerts to celebrate! Iron Horse is a bluegrass band from Killen, Alabama, US. They are known for performing and recording bluegrass cover versions of rock songs, particularly their bluegrass treatments of heavy metal songs popularized by Metallica. The band has two tracks on the tribute album Strummin' with the Devil: The Southern Side of Van Halen, which also features David Lee Roth, among other artists. Bring your chair, blanket and picnic to enjoy the evening. Food trucks will be onsite with food & dessert available for purchase.
