Title: Glass: “Openwork Heart”
Description: Hearts and flowers are the perfect combination. In this class you will be creating a dimensional flower and attaching it to a wire frame heart signifying timeless beauty and enduring love.
Instructor: This class will be taught by local artist and Burritt Folk School Principle Instructor, Karen Reed. Karen Reed (Earthstar Glass) has been an art glass professional for over 40 years. Her work has been purchased for private collections in several countries, was requested for Christmas display at The White House, and is carried in galleries in several states. She has been a published, contributing editor for GLASS Craftsman magazine for 13 years. She has also written for : International Guild of Glass Artist’s publication: Common Ground Glass, Glass Art, Fired Arts, The Crafts Report and the e-magazine artglassinfo.com Teaching is a major component of Karen’s work and she has previously taught at folk schools in nine states including John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC, Arrowmont School for Arts & Crafts and The Appalachian Center for Craft. She had been at Burritt Folk School for the last six years. Locally her work is available in Josie’s Gift Shop at Burritt on the Mountain and in The Huntsville Art League (Lowe Mill)
Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided. Students should wear close-toed shoes.

Important Information: Registering for a workshop indicates that the student is 19 years of age or older and understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets or other promotional materials. Registration also indicates that the student releases Burritt on the Mountain and the City of Huntsville, all their directors, employees, volunteers, and any persons associated with Burritt on the Mountain, from any liability for any bodily injury and/or property damage suffered by the attendee as a result of actives during the educational program.
Cancelation Policy: Our workshops take a great deal of advance planning and purchasing of supplies. 25% of all ticket purchases are a non-refundable deposit. Students that cancel 30 days or more prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a refund, minus the non-refundable deposit. No refunds will be issued less than 30 days from the start date of a class.* To be fair and consistent, there can be no exceptions to this policy, regardless for the reason a cancelation is requested.

*We require a minimum number of students to hold a class. If this minimum is not met, the class may be canceled or rescheduled. In this case, a full refund will be offered.
