Title: Visual Arts: “Beginner Brush Lettering”

Description: This will be a beginner level brush lettering class where students will learn everything they need to know to get started with brush lettering. They will learn basic strokes, basic brush lettering ideas, how to hold their pens, tips and tricks and more. We will use my Hand Lettering Basics workbook to allow them to practice strokes, letter and connections. They will get to take home my Hand Lettering Basics workbook and a brush lettering supplies kit that includes all of the markers that they will need. They will also get to practice hand lettering on envelopes and we will letter their names to make name cards. This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to brush letter or who wants to practice their brush lettering skills by learning my tips and tricks.

Instructor: Ashley Kelly is an artist specializing in digital watercolor, pattern design and hand lettering.  Ashley owns the stationery shop “I Have Plans For You” and is the top performing Etsy stationery seller in the North Alabama area.  She draws, hand-letters and designs everything she sells and creates lettering art for greeting cards, stickers, notebooks, wall art, and envelopes using brush pens and other markers.  She also shares her art on Instagram where she has a budding community of over 2,250 supporters. Ashley has taught many friends and social media followers how to create brush lettering pieces with brush markers and/or monoline markers.  She has also designed and written a hand lettering basics workbook which students will use in this course.

 Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided. Supply fee includes Hand Lettering Basics Workbook, a beginner brush lettering kit (including markers), an envelope and construction paper. Students will keep these to take home.

Important Information: Registering for a workshop indicates that the student is 19 years of age or older and understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets or other promotional materials. Registration also indicates that the student releases Burritt on the Mountain and the City of Huntsville, all their directors, employees, volunteers, and any persons associated with Burritt on the Mountain, from any liability for any bodily injury and/or property damage suffered by the attendee as a result of actives during the educational program.

Cancelation Policy:  Our workshops take a great deal of advance planning and purchasing of supplies. 25% of all ticket purchases are a non-refundable deposit. Students that cancel 30 days or more prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a refund, minus the non-refundable deposit. No refunds will be issued less than 30 days from the start date of a class.*  To be fair and consistent, there can be no exceptions to this policy, regardless for the reason a cancelation is requested.

*We require a minimum number of students to hold a class. If this minimum is not met, the class may be canceled or rescheduled. In this case, a full refund will be offered.
