Title: Youth Series: “Dyeing a Galaxy”

Description:Join us to make out-of-this-world wearable art! Students will use a variety of dyeing and resist techniques to make a cotton scarf or *t-shirt reflecting the night sky or outer space.  Students should wear clothes they are okay getting stained.

Please note: Please note: This class is for students ages 12-18. Once a ticket is purchased, parents will complete registration via the email address provided at check-out. Please understand that registration is not complete until the student form has been completed and returned. Thanks!

Instructor: Meghan Laury Tucker has a background in several different textile arts, having worked as a tailor and in theatrical costume design, as well as being a lifelong knitter.  She has been spinning for 12 years, has been making historical clothing for over 15 years, and is always excited to pass on enthusiasm and knowledge of the crafts of the past. She has taught these skills to children and adults of various ages in multiple programs at Burritt on the Mountain for over ten years.

Supplies and Attire: All materials and equipment are provided. Please wear old clothes that can be stained.

Time: Tuesday, June 18th  (2:00pm – 4:00pm)

Tuition: $40.00

Important Information: Registering for this workshop indicates that the student is 12-18 years of age and the student and his/her parent or guardian understands that photographs/video may be taken during the event and their image may be used on Burritt on the Mountain’s website and social media outlets or other promotional materials. Registration also indicates that the student and his or her parent/guardian releases Burritt on the Mountain and the City of Huntsville, all their directors, employees, volunteers, and any persons associated with Burritt on the Mountain, from any liability for any bodily injury and/or property damage suffered by the attendee as a result of actives during the educational program. The parent/guardian is aware and agrees that the student information sheet will be completed and returned prior to the student being admitted to class.

Cancelation Policy: Our workshops take a great deal of advance planning and purchasing of supplies. 25% of all ticket purchases are a non-refundable deposit. Students that cancel 30 days or more prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a refund, minus the non-refundable deposit. No refunds will be issued less than 30 days from the start date of a class.*  To be fair and consistent, there can be no exceptions to this policy, regardless for the reason a cancelation is requested.

Thank you for understanding that this policy is in place to protect our artist instructors who spend time, energy, and money to create an amazing learning experience. 

*We require a minimum number of students to hold a class. If this minimum is not met, the class may be canceled or rescheduled. In this case, a full refund will be offered.
