“Digging Deeper: An Archaeology Adventure” Saturday, June 14th | 10am - 4pm Unearth ancient adventures and family fun! Kids will become budding archaeologists as they experience a mock excavation, create their own pottery, learn navigation skills, and test their aim with an atlatl, an ancient spear-throwing tool. Explore archaeology together in a beautiful mountaintop setting, sparking curiosity, and creating lasting memories. Schedule of Activities Throw with an Atlatl 10:30, 1:30, 3:30 Create a pinch pot 11:30 and 2:30 Orienteering activity 12:30 These events are included in general admission and are free for Burritt members.

Reptile Day Saturday, July 12 10 am-4 pm Burritt on the Mountain is excited to partner with The North Alabama Zoological Society and Beth Girard, a naturalist with Tim’s Ford Nature Center, for Reptile Day. NALZS will showcase their reptile ambassadors, and Beth Girard will bring her menagerie of reptiles, including a legless lizard and a blue-tongue skink. Burritt will also introduce you to our education snake ambassadors! Not only will you get the chance to learn about these incredible creatures, but we will also have engaging craft activities for kids to create.

Celebrate Huntsville Music Month! Music on the Mountain Sunday, September 14th 12:30pm – 4:30pm Enjoy some old-time favorites as you wander through our Historic Park and listen to musicians share their love of making music the old-fashioned way. Visit for an hour or two or bring a picnic lunch and spend the day on the mountain. Admission includes a trip to the Burritt Mansion and/or hiking our trails.
