The slab technique is a simple concept that has infinite possibilities and can be used to make a variety of types of pottery from functional pieces like serving dishes or vases to artistic centerpieces or wall sculptures. Bring your imagination and see what you can create! Students will return on Sunday, August 30th to glaze their pieces. (If the student is unable to attend the glazing session, the instructor can apply the glaze of your choice.)

Life moves fast, and most of us are running on a nervous system that never gets the memo to stop. Embracing Your Aliveness is a mini retreat designed to interrupt that pattern — a guided pause where you can drop out of your head, settle into your body, and remember what it feels like to actually be present in your own life. This workshop is for anyone who feels like they're constantly "on". The woman who takes care of everyone else and rarely stops to ask what she needs, the professional running on adrenaline and calling it productivity, the person who senses they're disconnected from their own body but isn't sure how to find their way back.
You don't need any experience at all! This will be like dipping your toes into what it would feel like to go on any of Maria's worldwide retreats. All you need is the willingness to show up and be still for a couple of hours, bring an open mind and heart and get ready to learn some powerful life-hacking tools. If you're craving rest that goes deeper than a nap, and connection that goes deeper than small talk, this is for you.

This beginner wheel-throwing workshop will cover the basics of shaping clay using an electric pottery wheel. Your instructor will guide you through the essential steps of creating a wheel-thrown vessel. Each student will create one or two pieces to be fired and glazed. Students will return on Sunday, October 4th to glaze their fired pieces. They will be fired one more time and ready for pick-up the following week.
Please keep in mind that throwing on the pottery wheel is a skill that can take many years to master. This is an opportunity to get your hands dirty and see what wheel throwing is all about. This is a great class for someone who has never tried a wheel or for students who have taken our "Test Drive" class and want to progress even more. Participants will have the option to keep one to two of your creations to be fired and glazed.
*There are many variables during the drying and firing process and pieces can crack or even explode. While we make every effort to ensure your work will be a success, these variables make it impossible to guarantee your work will survive but this is the life of a potter.
