Shhhh! Secrets of the Forest: A Nature Mystery Camp July 13-17, 2026 Join us for a week of outdoor discovery and imaginative exploration. Set on Burritt’s beautiful grounds, this camp invites children to slow down, look closely, and connect with the natural world through a story-based mystery woven throughout the week. As campers explore Burritt’s trails, farm areas, and outdoor spaces, they will follow a nature-themed storyline that encourages them to observe animal tracks, habitats, and behaviors.
Burritt on the Mountain is excited to partner with The North Alabama Zoological Society (NALZS) and Beth Girard, a retired natural resource educator and Tennessee Naturalist Program Volunteer, for our Reptile Day this year. NALZS will bring their reptile ambassadors Apollo, the king snake, Million, an African Pygmy hedgehog, Twickenham, a Sulcata tortoise, and Squirtle a yellow-bellied slider turtle. Beth Girard will bring her menagerie of reptiles, including a legless lizard, a blue-tongue skink, a terrestrial non-tortoise turtle, and an aquatic turtle. Burritt will also introduce you to our education Snake Ambassador SAL.

Jurassic Explorers Camp July 20-24, 2026 Can you tell whether this tail bone comes from a T. rex or a Stegosaurus? Where do fossils come from? Just how big is a Velociraptor? Curiosity is at its peak—and it’s the perfect time for Jurassic Explorers! Burritt invites your young paleontologist to a dinosaur-themed adventure packed with hands-on science and imaginative play. Campers will use microscopes to explore cells, dig for “dinosaur bones,” create an erupting volcano, investigate “dinosaur eggs,” and hike the trail in search of limestone “pancakes,” fossils, and other natural treasures.
