Quilts from our Collections April 2023 - January 2024 Quilts are not just a way to keep warm and to decorate a room, quilts often tell stories, and often it becomes a good mystery. Who made them, the fabric that was used, and who it might have been made for are all part of the story. Whatever the story, quilts are an amazing piece of art; they are beautiful and a testament to the handwork and skill of the quilter.

Students will create and design earrings or pendants out of Precious Metal Clay, when after firing in a kiln, will be 99.9% Fine Silver.
Learn the basics of hand stitching sturdy, beautiful, one-of a kind clothing. This beginner’s class will teach the essentials of hand stitching, walk you through the basics of planning and cutting a garment, and leave you with the skills you need to finish a handmade apron of your own.
In this intermediate class, students will build on basic skills to make bigger and better bowls, mugs with handles, and other forms using a potter's wheel and other tools.

Fireball Mail bluegrass band – Winners of the 2016 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest. Reptile Day with NALZS 10am-4pm Burritt on the Mountain is excited to partner with The North Alabama Zoological Society (NALZS) and the Stucki Family for our Reptile Day this year. NALZS will bring their reptile ambassadors Twickenham, the sulcata tortoise and Moose, the yellow-bellied turtle to teach the differences between turtles and tortoises. And NALZS’s resident herpetologist, Chase Bowman, will teach about our slithery snake reptile friends. The Stucki family is coming to share their beloved reptiles with our visitors. Come meet a bearded dragon and two African Pancake Tortoises.

Come join us for a relaxing class painting a 16 ounce Stoneware mug! Held once a month during Burritt's "Cocktails on the View" students will participate in a two hour introductory class taught by a Folk School instructor and enjoy cocktails and appetizers while creating their own project.
