Deadline to Register: July 8th at 5:00pm
Title: Ceramics: “Wheel Throwing 1.5”
Description: Do you like working in clay and have already made your first bowls or mugs on a potter’s wheel, but want to learn more? In this class you’ll build on your basic skills to make bigger and better bowls, mugs with handles, and other forms. You’ll also learn techniques for enhancing basic shapes. This class is also a good refresher if it has been a while since you’ve used a potter’s wheel.*
Please note: This is an intermediate beginner’s workshop. Students should have some previous experience using a potter’s wheel, even if it’s just one previous class.
*There are many variables during the drying and firing process and pieces can crack or even explode. While we make every effort to ensure your work will be a success, these variables make it impossible to guarantee your work will survive, but thus is the life of a potter.
Instructor: Paul Wieland has been making wheel-thrown pottery for over 15 years and has taught at multiple pottery studios throughout the region. He studied ceramics under Tom Marsh at the University of Louisville and was a co-founder of the Tennessee Valley Ceramic Arts Guild (TVCAG). He has demonstrated pottery-making at the Burritt Museum Folklife Festival for several years. He has also exhibited his work at Lowe Mill in Huntsville and in Atlanta, GA. You may see examples of Paul’s work on his website, Nascent Pottery.
Supplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided. Students should wear close-toed shoes.
Dates/Time: Saturday, July 15th (9:00-4:00)
Tuition: $105.00
Supply Fee: $25.00

Students that cancel 30 days or more prior to the date of the class will be eligible for a refund, minus the non-refundable deposit. If a cancellation is requested 14 to 29 days from a class date, a refund of half the total price can be issued. No refunds will be issued less than 14 days from the start date of a class.* To be fair and consistent, there can be no exceptions to this policy, regardless for the reason a cancelation is requested.
Thank you for understanding that this policy is in place to protect our artist instructors who spend time, energy, and money to create an amazing learning experience.
*We require a minimum number of students to hold a class. If this minimum is not met, the class may be canceled or rescheduled. In this case, a full refund will be offered.
